Dorian takes the Gold at the RSX Worlds 2011!!!

After a bronze medal at the Worlds in  2009 Dorian has finally claimed his well deserved Worldtitle on the RSX in Perth.

In the Medalrace he needed to finish ahead of Piotr Myszka (POL) which isn't an easy task considering that Myszka is the 2010 Worldchampion and 2011 European Champion. But Dorian must have felt really confident and at the first upwind mark he was already 25 seconds and 3 places ahead of Myszka. And while Dorian kept going forward in the fleet finishing on 4th place Myszka wasnt able to improve himself coming in on 8th place.

Tomorrow, sunday 18th dec, is going to tell us who wil be the Worldchampion 2011 for the RSX Men.

Today's racing showed a strike back of current European- and Worldchampion Piotr Myszka (POL). With two 2nd places he managed not only to close the gap with Dorian (NED) but is now leading with one point. But leading with one point going into the Medalrace doesn't mean anything. Because of the double point scoring it's really simple. The one who is in front of the other will become the Worldchampion 2011!!!!

Grote Klasse PJ!!!!

After a long and intense event Lee El Korsitz (ISR) managed to claim the RSX Worldtitle in Perth. She had to fight a lot in the final medal Race after a slow start. In the meanwhile Zofia Klepacka (POL) was on fire and for a while sailing for the title. But in the last lap Lee El managed to come back into the race and finished on 5th place. Klepacka finished on 2nd place just behind Mayaan Davidovich (ISR) who won the race.

On day 3 and 4 of the RSX Worlds 2011 the women have been fighting some tough battles on the water. Everybody wanted to put themselves in the best possible position to fight for the medals or have a chance to get into the medal race. Although overall leader Lee El Korsitz (ISR) had her worst score in race 6 with a 9th place, she continued her great performance with a 2nd and 3rd place in race 7 and 8. She's still leading the pack with a six point lead over Marina Alabeau (ESP) who sailed a good serie of 2 - 8 - 1. Because of this she managed to pass Bryony shaw (GBR) Bryony lost her steady results of the first two days with 20 - 6 - 12 and dropped out of the top three places, now on 4th. The big star of day 3 and 4 was Zofia Klepacka (POL). She managed to sail 2 bullets and a 6th place in race 8. She shows strong nerves after her difficult start on the first day. The question is if she can get closer to Alabeau and Korsitz in the last 2 races before the medal race.

After a unexpected layday on day 2 due to bad weather - electrical storms - the women continued their event with 3 races . It was clear that this would be an important day because the split in Gold and Silver would be made at the end of the day. Besides of that some women had to do some damage repair, especially the ones who sailed in the first fleet of day one and collected some big points. From the start it was obvious who were the ones to beat. Zofia Klepacka (POL) made a nice jump in the standings by sailing 4 - 3 - 2. Blanca Manchon (ESP) had a good come back with 2 - 8 - 1 but still needs to catch up a lot. The three Top contenders: Lee El Korsitz (ISR) showed great skills by posting a 2nd place in race 4 and winning the other two races. Bryony Shaw (GBR) kept on sailing really steady with 1 - 3 - 2 followed  by Marina Alabeau with 1 - 2 - 3. These three women are really close on points only Marina is carrying a 10th place as discard.

At the end of the day the split was made bewteen Gold and Silver and it was Alison Shreeve (AUS) who just managed to stay in the Goldfleet on 34th place. But looking at the list I don't think there are to many surprises. Maybe Natalia Kosinska (NZL) and Angeliki Skarlatou (GRE) were expected to be seen in the Goldfleet as well. First race winner Pepa Mavrodieva (BUL) showed she loves the lighter winds but she struggled to much in the breeze and also dropped out of the Goldfleet.
From now on it's going to be interesting to see how racing developes. Are the women who carry big discards of day 1 able to repair their scores and come back to the front of the pack.
